We’re going to begin creating a series of videos that should prove useful to a large amount of folks. It’s going to be a continuous series of what we hope will be helpful bits of information acquired over 35 plus years of living as a foreigner. By no means are we saying our way is right or wrong, nor are we implying it as being good or bad. It simply is what it is. These videos merely represent our own personal experiences, but we’re looking for a little help from our viewers too. We’re asking that you share yours as well.
We as a people have never been more divided and you don’t have to look very far to get a glimpse of what’s happening to our world. All these divides are done on purpose and the underlying reasons are to keep public eyes focused in any direction but where they should be.
It’s my desire that all who watch these videos contribute their ideas and what knowledge they’re willing to share to help those who seek it. It’s time that we bring our wisdom to the table and begin to steer clear of this “you’re either with me or against me” approach that’s currently running ramped across the nations.
I’ll be taking my viewers along for the ride on several aspects of everyday life offering what for many may prove to be reasonable ideas to raise the quality of living as an expat. Everything from purchasing automotive services to immigration, this will be an ongoing series with no end in sight. Even after 37 years as an expat I’m learning every day and it’s with this in mind that I ask the following.
Please help us to help others. If you agree or disagree that’s fine but hold any bashing for the doom and gloom sites. They’re always looking for new members. If you have similar or other ideas please comment, there are a lot of good ideas out there and we’d love to hear them, so share them with all of us.
Let’s stop looking at our world as a black or white scenario, let’s stop trashing others and start assisting others. After all in the long run everything’s just various shades of grey. Look forward to receiving your worthwhile ideas. I’m optimistic with your help these videos will offer value to both, those contemplating a move and those already living one. ENJOY! Barry In DR.
I love the idea and the new video with the tires Barry!
It makes it much more real and honestly I think it’s cool to see the local shops.
I did have a question regarding vehicles. Obviously a 4 wheel drive would be advisable. Do people ship them down or buy local?
Personally, I’d rather buy local. I can’t imagine all the tape you’ve got to cut to get a vehicle down there.
Thanks a lot and I love the name Wise Ol’ Gringo!
Bill
Bill, I’ll be doing another video addressing exactly what you mentioned. Since I launched the wise old gringo series I’ve received several excellent ideas for future videos. I’m soon releasing one about a new bus service from Nagua to Santiago. Important to know for the folks living in RSJ or Cabrera. Before it was a 3 bus ordeal and now its direct. Currently working on a more in depth video about how immigration. The requirements have changed and they’ve raised the bar considerably to qualify. I’ll be for sure addressing your topic and thanks for reaching out. If you have any other topics you’d like to see posted just reach out.
Hey Barry!! Great idea for a series of videos. People are always looking for this type of info. When you do search google or YouTube all people seem to find are the negatives. It’s harder to find something that won’t scare you about the country you are searching.
Can’t wait for more videos. It may seem like common sense when venturing to a different country. To be safe and try not to get ripped off. But I think people just want reassurance by watching videos or reading articles before they go. Helps make them feel better.
Ok take care B. Say hi to Liane and Johnny for me and Jaz. Great post!!
It’s not about being scared it’s about being informed. Regardless of how sad it is the fact remains that people have been trained to focus more on the bad and the chaos. Precisely why we don’t get our information from main stream news. It’s also done because of click bait. Regardless of interest levels more people will click onto a headline featuring bad than one featuring good. I’m a fan of neither, I research to determine truth. We’re just attempting to inform people what should be obvious. Corruption exists everywhere and there’s good and bad in every location around the world. As common sense as these are because of the effects of habitual main stream viewing have become somewhat lost in today’s world.
Thanks for the comment.
